How to make your own Christmas napkin rings

Step 1: Print the template

To make your own Christmas napkin rings, we've made it super easy with our FREE, printable template.

Simply download the template and print it onto white card or paper. You may want to have a couple spare in case of mistakes.

Step 2: Colour the DIY Christmas napkin rings

Colour in each element of the template using pens and pencils or for older children, paints and paintbrushes. To follow the traditional colours for reach we recommend the following:

For the Santa napkin ring:

• Body - red
• Belt - black
• Belt buckle - gold or yellow
• Buttons - black or use craft gems and buttons for a 3D effect

For the Mrs. Claus napkin ring:

• Body - red
• Wings - gold or yellow
• Belt - black
• Belt buckle - gold or yellow

Step 3: Cut out your napkin holders

Next, carefully cut out your napkin rings from the template. We recommend saving any spare paper cut outs for future use and don't forget to recycle them.

Step 4: Attach your elements together

For the Santa napkin ring:

Use Blu Glu stick or PVA white Glu to assemble his belt a third of the way up his body, so that the ends reach the sides without any gaps or overlap. Then, stick the belt buckle on top of the belt in the centre.

Once the belt is fixed in place, stick the two buttons in a line down the centre of his body to create the effect of a suit jacket. Your Santa's body is now complete.

For the Mrs. Claus napkin ring:

Again, using Blu Glu stick or PVA white Glu, stick Mrs. Claus' belt on her body so that the ends reach the sides without any gaps or overlap. Then, fix the belt buckle in the centre of the belt. Set the wings to one side until a later step - the Mrs. Claus napkin holder is complete for now.

Step 5: Assemble the DIY Xmas napkin holders

Fold each of the napkin holders along the dotted lines shown on the template. Use an Extra Strong Glu Dot to secure the two folds in place, sticking it where the two sides overlap.

For the Mrs. Claus napkin holder, use an additional Glu Dot to attach the wings. Stick the dot in the centre of the wings on the decorated side. Then, press this firmly into place around where the two folded sides of the body were stuck together.

Step 6: Decorate!

Add some finishing touches to the napkin holders to bring them to life. We recommend using Extra Strong Glu Dots or PVA white Glu to stick sequins, gems or buttons in place and our Glitter Glu pens to add extra detail.
